Trademarks
Any sign capable of distinguishing the goods or services of a given
enterprise from similar goods or services of another enterprise can be
considered a trademark eligible for protection. An example of a trademark
can be word, design, ornament, combination of colours, plastic form, melody
or other acoustic signal and a combination of such elements.
Trademark registration lasts 10 years, starting from the date of filing
a regular application with the Patent Office and may be extended for a
future 10-year periods if requested by the trademark owner.
Registration of a trademark comes after filing a regular application,
examination of the application by Patent Office (in regard to: its distinctiveness,
similarity to earlier registered trademarks, etc.), and paying a protection
fee.
